Melvin D. Weber, a long-time resident of Roslyn, passed away suddenly on his way home from a Texas vacation to see his great-granddaughter on Dec. 30.
He is survived by his wife Thelma and his children Jay Weber and Susan Weber, a high school musical teacher/director and musical director of the Herricks Community Players productions.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Laurie, David and Steven, his great-granddaughter Devyn Barrios and his sister Carolyn Silverman.
Services were held on Jan. 1 at the Riverside/Nassau North Chapels in Great Neck. Memorial contributions would be appreciated either to the American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation.
Kathryn Behrens Runge, 85, of Freehold Township, died on Dec. 30, 1998 at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township. Mrs. Runge was born in Brooklyn, moving to East Orange as a young child. She was a 1932 graduate of the Dearborn-Morgan School in Orange. She was a homemaker, community volunteer and member of the Congregational Church of Manhasset, the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, and the AARP. She raised her family in Roslyn before moving to Applewood Estates nine years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred E. Runge Sr. in 1991, and her brother, William Henry Behrens Jr. in 1982. Surviving are her son, Alfred E. Jr. of Yamouth, ME; two daughters, Susan Hoag of Chatham, NJ and Jane Sanger, of Wilton, CT; a sister, Dorothy Behrens Shannon of Richland, WA; five grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

Freehold. Interment Somerset Hills Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Chilson Volunteer Fire Dept., Ticonderoga, NY.
