Michael McGauran, of Roslyn Heights, died on Dec. 1, 1998. He was born in Roscommon, Ireland. Husband of the late Ann (Murray). Father of Mary Berhan, Kathleen McGauran and Anne O'Malley. Grandfather of Michael (Lesley), Sean, Erin and Joseph Berhan, Meghan and Kathryn O'Malley. Brother of Dr. James McGauran of Galway, Ireland. Uncle of many nieces and nephews in Ireland. Arrangements were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

Veronica Madeline Jones, formerly of Glen Head, died in Paramus, NJ on Dec. 10, 1998. Vera, as she was known to all who knew and loved her, is survived by her two sons, Alfred of Ridgewood, NJ and Roger of Sioux City, IA; and by four grandsons, Robert, William Trevor and Spencer. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred and by her son David.

Vera and her husband moved from NY to Roslyn in 1946 and to Glen Head in 1957. Vera was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Roslyn, for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School, was active in parish care and was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church Women. Vera was also a teacher at the Trinity Day Nursery School between 1950 and 1965 and is fondly remembered by many of her students.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Roslyn on Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. The family has requested that contributions be sent in lieu of flowers either to Trinity Church or to the March of Dimes.
