Obituaries
Leo Osieczkowski, of Albertson, died on Sept. 3, 1998. Father of Michael. Father-in-law of Angela. Grandfather of Sabrina and Zachary. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park. Funeral Mass at St. Aidan's RC Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery.

Madelyn "Lynn" K. Peterson, of Roslyn, died on Sept. 8, 1998 at Langdon Place of Exeter, NH. She was born in Boston, attended Tufts University and moved to Roslyn after her marriage.

For the past 50 years she brought great enthusisam to her numerous community involvements. She has been actively involved with the Roslyn Visiting Nurse's Association, serving as vice president, treasurer and board member, a member of the Roslyn Environmental Association, a member of the Bryant Library, Cedermere, the Zoning Board, the Roslyn Civic Association and Meals on Wheels.

In the past she was a member of the group that organized the 24 hour Vigil to Protest the Treatment of Jews in Soviet Russia. She helped organize and fund raised for Camp Unity, a local OEO sponsored summer day camp for some of Roslyn's less affluent families. Her volunteer work also included working in the schools with the Scouts and as a nurse's aide of the North Shore Community Hospital.

Lynn worked for several years as the assistant to the Roslyn High School language department. Subsequently her love of travel led her to work as a travel agent for over 11 years. She was always devoted to research, bookcollecting and proofreading. She worked at The Stone, a rock and roll magazine and with Morris Gelfand at his Stone House Press. Her love of books led to a lengthy association with the Sebastian Brant Society.

Shortly before her death Lynn attempted to call all her numerous old and new friends but was unsuccessful in reaching many of you.

Family members include one son, Christopher H. Peterson of Brewster, NY; one daughter, Susan C. Peterson of Exeter, NH; a brother, Richard K. Kennedy of Weston, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter. Services were held in the Roslyn Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Brookville Cemetery, Oyster Bay.
