(The following is a letter from George Williams, former chairman of the Grist Mill Committee, to former Roslyn Deputy Mayor Marlene Freeman.)
On behalf of the 1701 Roslyn Grist Mill Committee, I want you to know how much we regret your leaving the committee. Certainly during the last few years on the Nassau County 350th Anniversary Committee, the 1895 Roslyn Clock Tower Committee, and now the Roslyn Grist Mill Committee, your work has been a marvel to behold. Your fund-raising efforts, the incredible publicity and the Silent Auctions, will be impossible to duplicate. We want you to know how grateful all of us on the committee are to you for your unselfish participation in these community activities.
And on a personal note, I am sorry to see you go and not be able to work with you. Your ideas were truly inspirational; your enthusiasm was unparalleled; and your motivation led us on to one success after another. Yes, Marlene, we wish you well and we know your special magic, which you gave so generously, will continue in another venue. It will be missed here in Roslyn.
George C. Williams, Chair
1701 Roslyn Grist Mill Committee
