  • NEWS: Cablevision to Buy Local Theaters

    Less than a year ago, The Clearview Cinema Group, which is based in Chatham, NJ, purchased the Roslyn Theater, located on Old Northern Boulevard. It also acquired theaters in Baldwin, New Hyde Park, Port Washington, Great Neck, Franklin Square, Manhasset and Babylon. Now Clearview Cinema Group, Inc., will be acquired by Cablevision Systems.     The Village of Roslyn is asking the New York State Department of Transportation to set up four safety checks in the village after an overloaded truck flipped over while being driven along Old Northern Boulevard at the intersection of West Shore Road in Roslyn. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Astros Continue Their Winning Ways

    The quarter-final game of the Senior League Tournament was a big success. The Astros won 14-0 against Islip. Fabulous shutout pitching by Nick Yannaco, who hit three for four at the plate. Wonderful hitting for Andrew Cutrone,who went two for two; and PJ Malmquist, who hit a great shot with the bases loaded to drive in three runs.
