Opinion

At a time when there is a growing mistrust of our public officials who increasingly seem to be guided by self-interest and greed, it's heartening to see that Long Island has a State Senator who is truly working for the people. His name is Michael Balboni.

As Newsday has reported, Sen. Balboni is working hard to eliminate the anachronistic tolls on our bridges and highways (most of which were paid for by the mid-1960s.) He wants to eliminate the headaches they cause: the incredible traffic jams, the pollution, the cost, the time wasted, and the separation of families and friends. (I have friends who have given up trying to see their relatives on the major holidays and weekends.) His plan: To open the toll gates and let the traffic flow!

I'm a registered Democrat, but Sen. Balboni has my support. Bravo, Sen. Balboni!
