The first annual "Go To Bat For Breast Cancer" sponsored by the Roslyn Little League was held on June 14. The event, originally scheduled for two full days was held on Sunday only due to inclement weather. Spirits were high though because children and adults alike participated to help a cause that hits home. With the incidence of breast cancer so high on Long Island, the awareness created by the event will undoubtedly prove to be beneficial. All of the proceeds from the event went to the Babe Zaharias Memorial Tournaments, a division of the American Cancer Society-Long Island Division.

Many of the children of Roslyn Little League participated in the tournament and one of the highlights of the day was the challenger team, the "Stars," against one of the older girls softball teams. Food was provided for by Max's with a portion of the proceeds going to the charity and dippin' dots ice cream where all of the proceeds went to the charity. Face painters, storytellers and Fantasy Entertainment provided some of the off field activities and the use of the gymnasium through the generosity of the Roslyn Schools provided a rainy day venue for basketball, whiffle ball and capture the flag contests.

Janna and Jessica Cohen (no relation) of the Red Sox surround Melissa Hantman.
