Robert T. Burns has been named engineer for the Village of Roslyn. He is currently with the firm of Dvirka and Bartilucci in Woodbury.

In making the appointment, Roslyn Mayor Janet Galante cited Mr. Burns' work in noticing recent sewer charges by Nassau County, which resulted in a $54,000 savings in payments by the village to the county last year.

Mr. Burns has over 30 years of engineering experience. He specializes primarily in the design and construction of potable ground water and surface water supply facilities for municipal and private entities. Among his other duties, Mr. Burns has evaluated data, prepared plans and specifications as well as supervised construction of water supply wells, pump stations, booster facilities, transmission piping, distribution mains and water and wastewater treatment plants.

Mr. Burns is a graduate of both Manhattan College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has served as director of the Water Pollution Control Association for both the New York State Association and its Long Island section.
