Wheatley Senior, Rebecca Landau, has been named a recipient of the EAB News 12 Long Island Scholar-Athlete Award. This prestigious award is received by only 30 students from Long Island schools. Rebecca is the first recipient of this award for the 1997-98 school year. Over her high school career, Rebecca has earned all county status more than one time in three separate sports: tennis, basketball, and softball. Recently, she has been designated an outstanding physical education student by the Nassau Zone of New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
In the area of academics, Becky has taken one of the most challenging programs Wheatley offers. As a senior, she carries a demanding academic load of five AP courses and Japanese II. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar as well as a member of the Wheatley National Honor Society.
