A crew of youngsters turned out for the 64th annual Town Dock Snapper Derby in Port Washington last weekend, sponsored by the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen’s Club. Boys and girls under the age of 16 made their parents and grandparents proud as they pulled in loads of snappers, and received free soda and hot dogs for their efforts.
Prizes were also awarded for first fish by a boy, first fish by a girl, most fish by a boy, and most fish by a girl. Additional prizes were awarded at the conclusion of the derby and each child received a Certificate of Participation. The annual event is designed to promote good sportsmanship and promote the general welfare of the bay community.
