Well, you saw an incredible week of play as our teams made some significant strides in the season as we wind down the spring.
The boys lacrosse team had an impressive 12-8 win over defending state champion Farmingdale. This was the first time in 20 years a boys lacrosse team has defeated the Dalers. The team played a tough game against perennial top team Hicksville and lost in double overtime in a game that was filmed by MSG Varsity. The team next plays at home on May 1 against Syosset.
We have upcoming events that are “can’t miss” this week, so take the time to watch our teams. The 94th Annual Port Invitational Track Meet will be held on Friday, April 27. Port is the defending champion and this year’s field is packed with schools of high caliber. Come see pole vault being contested for the first time as well. Mark your calendars for April 28, which is Lacrosse Day on campus at Schreiber and Day at the Diamond with baseball and softball at Guggenheim. Lacrosse Day will feature games by the junior varsity boys and girls lacrosse teams and varsity girls lax. There will be a senior game tribute for the girls before the game at 11 a.m. Come celebrate the senior girls.
There will be a number of PYA teams playing along the peripheral fields to make this a special day of lacrosse on campus. At Guggenheim, the boys baseball and girls softball teams will be hosting a Day at the Diamond with each sport’s eighth grade, junior varsity and varsity teams playing games all day. This will also be a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which make this day even more special. Enjoy the festivities and the teams all day!
Check out the website for all the games and matches. A few more weeks are left this season so don’t miss out.
