Schreiber Sports – ‘Around the Fields’

The beginning of the spring season began with the girls lacrosse Headstrong Tournament. The event took place last weekend with 12 teams, including four nationally ranked lacrosse teams on our fields. Each of the teams played six scrimmages. This is a fundraiser for the Headstrong Foundation. The fans were treated to great weather and great girls lacrosse. Kudos to the coaches and teams for making this a wonderful event every year. MSG Varsity was there to film as well.

Speaking about spring, the track teams will be competing in pole vault this season. We are looking for this event to put our team over the top giving us a legitimate shot to win the meets now that we can score in this event. The teams are looking real good so far with participation at a high. The next track meet is on March 26.

Boys varsity lacrosse played its first home game this past Tuesday. They travel to Connecticut this weekend before returning home, game vs. Long Beach, on March 27 at the turf.

Boys and girls softball start up the season next week with scrimmages. They both play at Guggenheim.

And that’s not all – we still have boys golf, boys tennis and girls badminton starting up soon.

Want to know more about the schedule? Log on to highschoolsports.net. Type in the zip code 11050 and you will find all the games on the Schreiber web page. If you don’t want to do all that, go to the athletics page on Portnet to access the link. Everything on that website is up to date. You can even get alerts to your phone or email of any changes.

See you around!
