St. Peter’s CYO Senior Boys Basketball Plays in Championship

The St. Peter’s CYO senior boys basketball team played their final game on Saturday, March 26 in the Nassau Championship against St. Mary’s Manhasset.

The core team consisting of Thomas Gill, Adam Schmidt, Eric Truss, Anthony D’Angelo, Michael Reali, Michael Quinn and Joe Duarte have played together since third grade in CYO as well as Super League Basketball. This year’s team added Michael Orr and Sean Caufield as The Blue Angels went 9-1 in regular season play.

Unfortunately, the team, coached by young Joe Gill who did an outstanding job, ran out of gas in the final playoff game against St. Mary’s losing 33-24. The team also won the CYO Sportsmanship Award which is given to the team that most exemplifies the virtues and qualities of CYO Sportsmanship.

We wish everyone the best of luck as they move onto college. All of the players will be playing a college sport including baseball, football and lacrosse.
