Adelphi University Junior Caitlin Fitzpatrick was named the C. Markland Kelly Goalkeeper of the Year at the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/ US Lacrosse Annual All-American banquet held June 13 in King of Prussia, PA, where she was also named first team College All-American. Fitzpatrick and Adelphi completed an undefeated season, 18-0 winning the Division II National Championship on May 17, 2009 in Salem, Virginia.
The East Coast Conference Goalie of the Year, Fitzpatrick played in all 18 games and got the start in 17. She led the team in saves (128), save percentage (.637), shots faced (283) and time guarding the net (879.50 minutes). Fitzpatrick had a season best 14 saves against Merrimack and 11 ground balls against Dowling (4/11) and was named the ECC Goalie of the Week nine times in 10 weeks. She was also recognized as Goalkeeper of the Year by Women’s Lacrosse.com.
She is the NCAA National Statistical Leader in Save percentage (63.7 percent) and Goals Against Average (4.98).
