The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to Port Washington.
The Port Washington chamber of Commerce is dedicated to improving and promoting the community of Port Washington, located on the North Shore of Long Island, just 18 miles from mid-town Manhattan.

"The UFO Phenomena: An Out-of- This World Experience," at the Sands Point Preserve, through June 1, 1997

EVENTS:
HarborFest:
At the Town Dock. Annual celebration held the weekend before Memorial Day Weekend. Features square dancing, tall ship cruises, Children's fun park, free concerts, a craft show, merchant booths, enviro-expo, flowerfest, fabulous food court, nautical exhibits, and more. Mission Statement: A celebration of Port Washington's nautical heritage on the shores of beautiful Manhasset Bay, dedicated to restoring and preserving this precious asset.

Knights of Columbus Annual Fair: Shore Road and Channel Drive. Held early June; Games of chance, rides, food.

Brut Cup of New York: at the Knickerbocker Yacht Club. Held the end of August. One of five international competitions comprising the Brut by Faberge Sailing Series, which boasts the largest cash prize in the sport.

Fiesta Italiana: sponsored by the Sons of Italy. West Shore road, near Hempstead Harbor Park. Wednesday-Sunday following Labor Day. Rides games and food.

Cow Neck Historical Society Annual Country Fair: 336 Port Washington Boulevard. Held mid-September on the grounds of historic Sands-Willets House.

Medieval Festival: at the Sands Point Preserve, Middle Neck Road, Sands Point. Held the end of September. Tournaments, jousting, archery, music, puppets, and games.

October Antique and Collectible Street Fair: Held the First Sunday in October on upper Main Street. Over 80 top-quality antique and collectible vendors.

Pride in Port Celebration: Held mid-October. Homecoming football game, parade, senior citizen's events, luncheon, community dance, and children's games.

Harbor Association Antique Street Fair: Lower Main Street. Held the last Sunday of every month, April through October.

John Philip Sousa Memorial Bandshell Concerts: Free concerts in Sunset Park, usually held Friday evenings, June through Labor Day. Special concerts held Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Bar Beach Park Summer Concerts: Sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead Department of Parks and Recreation, throughout July and August.

PUBLICATION:
"Try Port First" Directory of Business and Services in Port Washington. Published bi-annually. Available FREE upon request.

SPECIAL PROJECTS:
HarborSafe 7-point environmental program; Award winning program dedicated to fulfilling mission of HarborFest. Includes planting pollution-fighting Spartina Grass; grade school awareness and education; "Harbor Watch" environmental newspaper articles, "Don't Pollute-Harbor Drain" storm drain painting; promotion of recycling motor oil, household batteries, and paint; measuring and reporting Manhasset Bay hypoxia levels and beach and waterway cleanups.
