(The following letter was sent to Gary Ackerman, 5th Congressional District, House of Representatives and Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, New York State senators.)
Here’s why the presently enacted House and Senate health care bills will do nothing to expand health care to those who can’t get it now, and will reduce the quality of health care to those who presently receive it and, instead, will unnecessarily raise taxes and premiums for everyone and hasten the coming of devastating inflation:
1. It will discourage people from entering the medical profession. Doctors today steer their children away from the medical professions.
2. It will drive the present medical professionals out of practice and/or force them into early retirement. Why?
3. Because it does not include Tort reform to control outlandish medical malpractice claims and awards, so cost of malpractice insurance can be reduced.
Let’s put some lawyers on unemployment.
