I have been trying to interpret the subject article. Nothing about it is correct. Nothing about it makes sense. I cannot begin to understand why it was written.
Your first sentence talks about elections being contentious, etc. and this year being very different. So is this the part that breaks with “tradition”? Do you really believe that the opponent has not been complaining about finances and lack of transparency?
You claim there is only one uncontested race and you claim it is for trustee Farrington’s position. This is nonsense. Three trustee spaces are open. Incumbent Trustees Farrington, Di Lucia, and Steele are running and Mr. Avena is running for election as Trustee. Therefore there are four names on the ballot and the top three vote-winners will be seated.
How is Mr. Avena in direct competition with Trustee Farrington? Does your article imply that he is satisfied with the performance of the other two candidates and only wants Trustee Farington replaced?
It would be helpful if instead of writing what is evidently a poorly thought out space filler you had interviewed the candidates and gotten their views so that we could learn something worthwhile about the upcoming election.
Port Washington needs a newspaper with integrity and dedication to help its citizens navigate through the real issues in the Village, Town, County and various District (water, police, school, library, etc. ) elections.
Editor’s Note: There is a complete interview with each of the candidates for the Manorhaven Trustee position in this week’s issue.
