So the vultures are circling the children of Port Washington once again. This time armed with a horrendous economic condition. Don’t allow these consistent anti-school budget nay-sayers to influence your vote.
It is hard enough to sell a house in today’s difficult times. Imagine trying to do so in a community that votes against its children? What a shortsighted, foolish thing to do.
As a senior citizen, I believe our duly elected school board members try very hard to come up with the best budget they can. I believe our schools, their teachers and administrators are among the finest anywhere. I feel proud and fortunate to be living in the great community of Port Washington.
Sure, times are tough. The economy has a profound effect on all of us. But, don’t take it out on our children. A raise of under 2.3 percent seems fair to me. I urge my fellow senior citizens and all my neighbors, to vote a resounding Yes for our school budget and the children of Port Washington.
