Friday, 10 July 2009 00:00On Saturday, June 27, I heard there were hundreds of dolphins in the Long Island Sound in Hempstead Harbor. My mom told me we could go see the dolphins by boat. My mom, brother and my mom’s friend and I left Capri marina at 3:30 p.m. to go search for them. When we arrived at Hempstead Harbor, I did not see anything and was very disappointed.
We drove to Port Washington Yacht Club and boats full of kids were so excited because they saw the dolphins. We asked them where they had seen the dolphins and they said Larchmont. I begged my mom to go back but a storm was coming. We waited a few minutes until it passed and we went to Larchmont to see if the dolphins were still there. As soon as we crossed over the Long Island Sound I saw hundreds of dolphins jumping out of the water and playing with each other. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I took pictures and followed them in the boat. After all of the rain we have had this summer, this was the first real day of summer and the best.
