Angela D’Amato was born in Bari, Italy, in 1922 and came to America with her family in 1936. She settled in Port Washington in 1948 where she became an active member of the community. Angela was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Italian American Club. She was an assistant manager of the Eunice Dress Shop for over 12 years and was co-owner of D’Amato’s Deli for over 16 years. During this time her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, sewing, crafts, and most of all, spoiling the people she loved. She retired and moved to Cape Coral, FL, in 1980 and from there moved to Fort Pierce, FL.
Angela died on March 19, 2010. A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband Stefano of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Celia Deni of Somers, CT, and Sandra Conte of Jensen Beach, FL; her sister Anna Currier; four grandchildren, Kathleen, Patrick, Stephanie, and Gina; and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Angela, Jack, Joseph, Dylan, Emma and Nicholas. Angela was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Vito, and sister Loretta.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial for Angela was held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church on March 24.
