Friday, 19 March 2010 00:00Ivor Wright, age 94, died in Brewster, MA, on March 15, 2010. He was formerly a longtime resident of Port Washington. Ivor was born in London, England on March 2, 1916. He was predeceased by his loving wife Suzanne A. Wright. He was a devoted father to two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Wright of Bayside, NY, and Pamela and Richard McGauley of Orleans, MA. He leaves three beloved grandchildren, Sharon McGauley, Louise McGauley Betts and David Betts and Todd McGauley.
Ivor was a veteran of WWII seeing active duty in the liberation of Europe. After the war, he went to NYU to get his BA and subsequently became a CPA with firms in New York City. His hobbies included gardening, tennis and singing to name a few. He was a loyal 50-year choir member at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Port Washington at 10 a.m. with burial and full military honors at Nassau Knolls Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Music Fund, 9 Carlton Ave, Port Washington, NY 11050.
