Doris Murray (nee McCarter), age 80, of Port Washington, died on Dec. 26, 2009. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
Doris remained active and positive throughout her 80 years. She cherished the lasting friendships that developed as the result of her weekly volunteer work at the Helen Keller National Center in Sands Point. Her week also included a bridge game, dinner and a movie with the girls and lunch with her treasured friend of over 60 years, Ginger Lindner. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and took an African safari as well as numerous cruises. Always in love with the waterfront, she spent her latter years overlooking Manhasset Bay with many a book. All touched by Doris will miss her dearly.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Interment private. Donations in her memory to the Helen Keller National Center, Attn: Development Department, 141 Middle Neck Rd., Sands Point, NY 11050, would be greatly appreciated.
