Helene D. (Lanie) Signorile passed away peacefully on July 10 at her home in Port Washington, surrounded by her family and close friends. Lanie was born in Queens on July 6, 1953 and grew up in Miami and Great Neck. She lived her life to the fullest extent possible and was an inspiring, courageous, and determined survivor of brain disease for more than two decades. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Lanie was predeceased by her parents, Mildred (Schneider) Erbstein and Jerome Erbstein. She is survived by her husband, Stephen, her daughters Melanie and Elizabeth, her sisters Susan and Valerie, her granddaughter Molly and grandson Harrison, her niece Megan and her numerous friends. A memorial visitation was held Tuesday, July 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Austin F. Knowles, Inc. Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory to The Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20037 would be greatly appreciated.
