Victoria Nardiello Salerno, lifetime Port Washington resident passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 22, at the age of 99.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years Frank, and her oldest daughter, Joan Schneider. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Pierce of Port Washington; daughter, Jean Meisenzahl and her husband Wayne of West Palm Beach, Florida; Grandchildren: Christina Hone and her husband Frank of Naples, Florida; Michael la Villa of Tampa, Florida; and Troy Pierce, his wife Dawn and son Clay of Port Washington; Michael Deyermond of Santa Monica, Califronia, and Matthew Deyermond of Dallas, Texas.
Vicki was not one to sit for long periods of time. The original “number please” operator, she worked for more than 30 years beginning her career life with the New York Telephone Company, and moving to Pall Corporation and The Medical Center of Manhasset.
In her “spare time” she loved to cook (Italian of course) for all her family and friends to enjoy.
Upon her retirement she would join Frank in the yard relaxing and inviting all friends and family to join them, just to sit and “chat” and enjoy the day; or join Frank fishing at the beach or out on their beloved boat.
Her family observes that she certainly enjoyed a long, full 99 years and add with a cautionary look to the sky, “Watch out Frank, here she comes!”
