Michael Gross, 69, proprietor of Port Photo Supplies for 22 years, passed away on Jan. 21, 2012.
Port Photo, located on the corner of Port Washington Blvd and Willowdale Ave., was a familiar landmark to many Port residents who trusted Michael and his incredible photographic expertise. Michael’s personalized customer service was appreciated by professional photographers and weekend photo enthusiasts alike. Examples of his beautiful work can be seen at www.photosbymikegross.com.
Michael’s kind, generous and caring nature was always evident in the way he treated children, animals and strangers who quickly became friends. His smile and laughter were cherished by all who knew him. He leaves behind thousands of photos, hundreds of memories, dozens of friends and one family who will miss him always.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Diana (formerly Heijmans) Cornet-Gross of Oak Island, NC. He is also survived by his daughter, Roberta (Mario) Herrera of Coconut Creek, FL; son, Marc (Andrea) Gross of Lake Mary, FL; step-daughters, Carmen (Dan) Heijmans-Poorman of Georgetown, KY; Ilka (Rich) Heijmans Antonacci of Smithtown, NY; step-son Gregory Heijmans of Cary, NC; three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Services were held in North Carolina at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery on Jan. 23. Condolences may be expressed online at www.andrewsmortuary.com (Wilmington, NC). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or local Humane Society.
