Margaret “Peggy” Record, who was raised in Port Washington, passed away in her new hometown of Brandon, FL, on Oct. 28, 2011. As a girl, she lived with her mother Marguerite Denton and her father (a sergeant in the Port Washington Police Department), Michael Denton. She attended Port Washington Senior High School and was married to her late husband, Captain Byron L. Record, USMM at the Port Washington Methodist Church on Nov. 8, 1944. Although she moved to Florida in 1959, her heart remained in Port Washington. In fact, it was her final wish that her remains be scattered from the Town Dock where she spent most of her childhood. Over the years she contributed articles to the Port Washington News and Fate magazine. She is survived by her daughter Pamela; son Michael and his wife Hedda; son Anthony and his wife Andrea; and three grandchildren, Anthony, Allison and Alex Record. Gone before her were her mother and father, her husband Byron, and her first grandchild, Matthew.
