Obituary: Gustave H. Lockerman

Gustave H. Lockerman, 63, died on May 2, 2011 at Elliot Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born in Glen Cove on Sept. 2, 1947 to Albert and May (Carlson) Lockerman. Raised in Roslyn, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he resided in New York where he worked at Green Cab in Port Washington and California before moving to Manchester, NH.

He was employed by Tech Inc. in production the past 15 years. He previously worked at Dunkin’ Donuts and Kollsman Inc. in Merrimack.

Mr. Lockerman was a member of the VFW and Sweeney Post 2 American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and was known as a “weather buff.” He was loved and respected by those he knew and is cherished by his family, who remember the unconditional support and encouragement given by him.

Family members include his companion of 21 years, Barbara Yakkey of Manchester; three children, Martine Lockerman of Meriden, CT, Gustave H. Lockerman Jr. of Methuen, MA, and Jennifer Lockerman of Manchester; three stepchildren, Victor William Yakkey III, Mary Elizabeth Yakkey and Joseph Anthony Yakkey; grandchildren, Nicollette Dante, Jacqueline Dante, Skyler Ann Dante, Kaylie Lockerman, Cordeelia Lockerman and Everett James Lockerman; stepgrandchildren, Jason, Thomas, Krysta, Joseph and Emily; a sister Clara Lockerman; three brothers, Albert Lockerman of Paducah, KY, Carl Lockerman of Englewood, FL, and Alfred Lockerman of Manchester; nieces and nephews.

A memorial reception was held at the McHugh Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102 or the American Cancer Society, Centralized Processing Center, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Condolences may be offered at
