Hildegarde Stoeltzing, 98, died on May 16, 2011 of natural causes at her home in Kirkland, PA. Hildegarde was born in New York City, daughter of Augusta and Hjalmar Lundin. She lived most of her life on Long Island. Her first husband, Eric Osterberg, passed away in 1959, and in 1963 she married Richard E. Stoeltzing. The Stoeltzings moved to Bethlehem, PA, in 1994. Dick passed away in 2004.
The Stoeltzings devoted much time to the United Presbyterian Home in Syosset and she was a membership chair of the Beacon Hill (Port Washington) Women’s Club from its inception. They were charter members of the Greater Manhasset AARP.
She was preceded in death by her son Eric Osterberg. She is survived by her children, Greta (Jack) Troy, Rose Osterberg, Richard (Judy) Stoeltzing, Barbara (Phil) Schroeder; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She adored them all.
A memorial service will be held at Kirkland Village Retirement Community, Bethlehem, PA, on June 4 at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow on Sept. 18 at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Charity Care Fund, Kirkland Village, 1 Kirkland Village Circle, Bethlehem, PA 18017 or to Arcadia Hospice, 7248 Tilghman St., Allentown, PA 18106.
