Mildred (Mimi) Lore, 47-year resident of Glen Cove and for the last seven years a resident of Port Washington, passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 9, 2010 at home. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene Lore.

Survived by her children, Lynn and Dan Couture of Port Washington, Ken and Pat Lore of Bethesda, MD, Stephanie Banach of Melville, Karen and Serge Papasergiou of Sea Cliff. Born Dorothy Anne Brandon in New York City in 1932, she graduated from Port Washington High in 1950 where she was a class officer and a member of the National Honor Society. Attending Pembroke College in Brown University, she graduated cum laude and was editor of the Pembroke Record and the class yearbook. She married Donald Stehle in 1953.

Irene H. Murchison, age 77, of Port Washington, passed away on Sunday morning, July 4, 2010. She died at home, surrounded by her family. Irene is survived by her husband Gerald Murchison, her children Kim, Kathy, and Scott Murchison, and her grandchildren Quinn (17), Sophie (14), and Natasha (10) Slotnick. She is also survived by her mother Irene Hallstein (100), her brother Bill Hallstein, her niece Moya Hallstein, and nephews, Erik and Trevor Hallstein.

Irene was a caring and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt. She deeply loved music and was involved with community theater and many choral groups throughout her life. Irene loved nature and was an avid gardener. She was an extremely caring and wonderful mother and a kind and generous friend to many people. Irene was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Wells and the cherished mother of James R. Wells Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Nicholas M. (Renee) Wells of Lantana, FL, and Phoebe (Tedek) Wells-Gaj, RN, of Cambridge, MA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Wells Jaquith of Pembroke Pines, FL, James R. (Jill) Wells III of Forest Hills, Nicholas M. (Andrea) Wells Jr. of Brooklyn, Erin (Michael) Wells-Schaefer of Royal Palms Beach, FL, Eoin Gaj of Salt Lake City, UT, Daire Gaj of Cambridge, MA, and Cormac Gaj of Cambridge. Dottie is also survived by four great-grandchildren and her brother A. Randall McKechnie of Cockeysville, MD. Her twin sister, Mary Botti, predeceased her in 2008.

Stefano D’Amato, 87, of Fort Pierce, FL, passed away on June 12, 2010 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL. Stefano was born in Naples, Italy, on Oct. 31, 1922 and came to America in 1936. Stefano settled in the Bronx and worked as a pasta maker for Ronzoni Macaroni Company. He eventually met and married his beloved wife Angela on Aug. 6, 1944. They settled in Port Washington in 1948. Stefano worked for Sperry-Rand Gyroscope as a draftsman for 12 years. He and Angela owned and operated D’Amato’s Gourmet Deli in Manorhaven for 16 years and were active members of the community. Stefano was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy and the Port Washington Italian-American Club. A devout soccer fan, Stefano was a co-sponsor and officer of the Port Washington Soccer club and the professional Inter-Bari Soccer League for the Port Washington Italian-American club.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1946 in Queens, son of the late Alice Meder Lindemann and Conrad Lindemann. Husband of Louise (Martin). They were married on Aug. 24, 1968 in Strafford, PA. Father of Danielle Lindemann of New York City and Marc Lindemann of Miller Place. Grandfather of Margaret Lindemann and Marc Alexander Lindemann Jr. Also survived by two cousins, Robert and David Reeves; and his aunt Winnie Reeves.

O’Grady in 1956 and they moved to Port Washington in 1958 where they raised five children.
