Annual SOUPer BOWL Saturday, February 6

Don’t miss the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce’s 3rd annual SOUPer BOWL to be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, from noon to 3 p.m. The event will take place at Fellowship Hall in the United Methodist Church, 35 Middle Neck Road, just north of the Village Club of Sands Point entrance, and about five miles north of the Long Island Expressway.

Fifteen of our wonderful local restaurants and food establishments will be donating their best soups for the contest and hope to be voted Port Washington’s 2010 SOUPer BOWL Champ. You are invited to “Buy a Spoon” and become a “taster.” Upon paying the admission fee, you will be given a spoon, a hand stamp and a ballot. The hand stamp allows you to sample 2 ounces of each of the soups donated by the restaurants. The restaurants also provide bread and crackers free to the tasters. Then you vote for your favorite soups, and when all the ballots are tallied, the 2010 SOUPer BOWL Champ is determined. The winner will receive the “People’s Choice Award.”

There will also be a select Judges’ Panel. The judges are: Alex Lee, Iron Chef; Wendy Collett, personal chef; Beverly Halm, NY Assoc. of Cooking Professionals and coordinator of “Grand Chefs of LI, Port Washington Public Schools Continuing Education;”Anne Arter, gourmet and representative of the Head Coach sponsor Daniel Gale Sothebys International Realty, and Tamillah Alexander, a gourmet and deaf-blind student from the Helen Keller National Center.
