The North Hempstead Town’s annual end-of-summer beachfront festival “FamilyFest” will take place on Sunday, September 15, from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington.
An entertaining festival of music, food, entertainment and plenty of family-fun activities, this year’s “FamilyFest” will feature a New York Knicks Groove truck, kayaking, face painting, a petting zoo, hair braiding, spin art, live music and much more.
“As the summer season quickly wraps up, this gives residents one last chance this season to spend a festive day at one of North Hempstead’s pristine Town beaches and enjoy an eclectic mix of musical performances and activities,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman.
This year, FamilyFest attendees will enjoy excellent performances by four bands:
• Denzil “Belt” Botus, a Steel Pannist and Calypsos artist, will kick-off the musical entertainment with his jazz and infectious reggae performance.
• Bach of Rock will follow, whose song list includes “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Rollin’ in the Deep”; “Superstition”; “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”; a medley of Bruno Mars and more.
• Minute by Minute will take the stage performing a tribute to Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers.
• Mack and Soul will wrap up the performances with a Motown and 60s musical revue.
The event is free. Vehicle parking is $5. For more information, call 311.
