Local Talents Grace Dolphin’s Café Music

Café Music, the Friday night music series at the Dolphin Bookshop, will feature a wide range of musical talents this month.

On July 5, Port resident Shannon Ferguson will make her debut in the series, performing originals on the ukulele. The night will also feature Nikki Talley, a husband-wife duo that performs Americana and folk music. They gave a stellar performance last month, impressing the audience with their vocal power and banjo playing.

July 12 will be the series debut for Port resident Daniel Hyman and the Bennington String Trio, playing Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and more! On July 19, the local group Spencer and the Elders returns for their third gig at Dolphin. They play a unique mix of folk, blues, rock and roots. They’ll be sure to have you singing along by the end of night.

The month closes out on July 26 with an evening of musical theatre. Performers from the Port Summer Show will present a preview of their upcoming production, Shrek The Musical. The night will also feature a preview of Lydia & Tom: A New Musical, which will be performed at the NYC Fringe Festival later this summer. The show is composed by Port resident and series founder Solomon Hoffman.

Since June 2012, music has filled the Dolphin Bookshop and Café every Friday night with performances that are free and open to the community. The series features a wide range of musical styles, including jazz, classical, rock, folk, pop and musical theater. Many of the performers are Port Washington residents, making the series a valuable way for local musicians to share their talents. Plus, the series gives Port residents a place to unwind on a Friday night with live music, and delicious desserts and paninis from the café. Over the past twelve months, the series has featured over 100 musicians in 55 performances.
