Property Tax Exemptions Meeting at Library

To help you file for or learn more about the property tax exemptions you may be eligible for, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, in cooperation with Legislator Wayne Wink, has arranged to bring Department of Assessment office operations to the Port Washington Public Library on Wednesday, July 31 from 1 – 3 p.m. Equipped with specially configured computers linked to the county’s database, Department of Assessment staff will process property tax exemption applications (Veterans, Senior Citizen, Cold War Veterans, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers, Limited Income Disability, and Home Improvement) on-site.  Information about property tax exemptions is available at www.mynassauproperty.com.

Shrek The Musical at Schreiber High School

The Port Summer Show’s production of Shrek the Musical, will take place from August 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. and August 4 at 2 p.m. at Schreiber High School.  Senior citizens admitted free to August 1 performance only. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The Port Washington-Manhasset Chapter of Cancercare invites you to enjoy a deluxe bus ride to the Trump Plaza on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. $40 per person. North Hempstead Summer Concert Doubleheader at North Hempstead Beach Park

The Classics with Emil Stucchio will be playing at 1 p.m. This famous oldies group will sing their hits: “Till Then,” “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me,” “For Your Love,” and many more. Persian musician Kamy R will take the stage at 8 p.m. to perform his top hits. At a young age, Kamy R realized his passion for singing, mainly inspired by R&B, Soul, and Funk. His debut album “DOBAREH” was released worldwide in November of 2010 and broke the traditional barriers of conventional Persian pop. Both concerts will take place at North Hempstead Beach Park, 175 West Shore Road.

Schreiber senior Chloe Margulis will be the featured speaker at Port Washington Library’s “Sandwiched in, Meet The Author” event at 12:00 noon. Margulis, who has already written and published two books, will introduce her second book, “The Sword of Hadrian”.

Jewel Box Opera Series at Sands Point Preserve

Friends of the Sands Point Preserve presents the Jewel Box Opera Series, Puccini’s “Il Tabarro”, performed by an international cast with chamber orchestra in Castle Gould’s air-conditioned Great Hall. “Il Tabarro” runs 60 minutes. Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society Fall Country Fair

In addition to the Civil War re-enactors, a petting zoo, wonderful music all day long, craftspeople, pony rides, a real working blacksmith and great food, this year the fair will have a real race car from the Vanderbilt Cup Races.  The Alco Black Beast, winner of the 1909 and 1910 Vanderbilt Cup Races, will be on display at the Fair. Sands-Willets House, 336 Port Washington Boulevard, just south of Uncle Guiseppe’s, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rain Date: September 22.

25th Annual Pride in Port

Save the date to celebrate Pride in Port! The annual Parade, Senior Luncheon, Family Fun Day and Homecoming football game give our children, parents, seniors and neighbors an opportunity to show how much we enjoy living in this special community. The dinner dance provides a Taste of Port, a fun evening, and support for the Pride in Port scholarship fund. All events are open to all who live and work in Port Washington, and most events (except the dinner dance) are free of charge.
