Leeds Pond Clean-up

Meet at 10:15 a.m. at the parking lot of the Science Museum of LI, 1526 Plandome Rd., Manhasset, and then take a short walk down to the beach for the clean-up. Beach Clean-Up

Why Are Your Pills In My Drinking Water?

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The program is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Port Washington Public Library. Panelists include Fran Reid, TNH director of Environmental Planning; Dennis Lucia, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation; Maureen Dolan Murphy, Citizens Campaign for the Environment and Detective Steve Skrynecki, NCPD. According to a study performed by the U.S. Geological Survey, low levels of drugs such as antibiotics, hormones, contraceptives and steroids were found in 80 percent of the rivers and streams tested. The program is open to the public and questions from the audience will be welcome on this and all other aspects of our town’s waste disposal program.

Men’s Club

The Men’s Club of Manhasset has met continuously for 65 years. The club meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month (except July and August) at the Congregational Church of Manhasset at 11:45 a.m. for a hot lunch, coffee and dessert, followed by an interesting speaker. Autumn Treat

The Long Island Conservatory will perform an “Autumn Treat” at Harbor Links Golf at 7 p.m. The event will feature a main course of tasty music topped off with delicious desserts.
