The Schreiber High School Band will hold its opening concert at 3:00 p.m. at the John Philip Sousa Memorial Band Shell. The school band is proud to present this welcoming concert to its community members. Director is Mark Brenner with conductor John Meyer Jr.

Woodstock Revival at Sands Point Preserve

Experience the Woodstock scene on the Great Lawn at the Sands Point Preserve - 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - featuring a fantastic lineup of tribute bands and 75 artists who will display their work and paint on site to the inspiration of the music.  The tribute bands include: Wondrous Stories (The Who tribute), Milagro (Santana tribute), Halfstep (Grateful Dead tribute), Dragonfly (Jimi Hendrix tribute), Jelly Band (Mixed Woodstock tribute), with guest soloist, Elana Rivkin. Food and drinks can be purchased on the grounds. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic and blanket – and settle in on the cool grass for a great day of music, art, and hip fun. PYA Dinner Dance: Save the Date

Port Washington Youth Activities (PYA) Dinner Dance will be at the North Hempstead Country Club from 7:30 pm-midnight. Come celebrate its Golden Anniversary where we will induct Billy Omeltchenko and Stephen Zaccherio (in memoriam) into its Hall of Fame. Opening Day at Manorhaven Pool

The 2013 season runs from June 15 to September 2. Pool hours are daily from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from June 15 to August 18, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from August 19 to September 2. Registration for pool membership runs until June 14.  Early bird pricing ends on June 8. The Manorhaven Pool is located at 158 Manorhaven Boulevard, Port Washington. Bee-Whispering at Sands Point Preserve

Learn the ancient practice of beekeeping 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 15 and July 20 at the Sands Point Preserve’s Bee Apiary.  Each hands-on session involves interactive discussions and demonstrations of key methods covering honeybee biology and behavior; hive and colony setup; management, harvesting and utilizing products of the hive. All participants will observe, experience, and learn how to safely manage a honeybee colony.
