There's a rainbow after the rain....In the downpour, the Port Invitational went to its entirety which turned out to be a tremendous day for Ports runners. The boys and girls teams took first place. Justin Johnson was voted best track performer of the meet...The girls won the 4x1, 4x4 and 4x8...Jess Cooper won the award for best overall performer in the field events...Meghan Byrnes won the trophy for winning the 1500 and Janayia Thomas won the award for best performance in the running events...Boys volleyball is back on track with a 4 game winning streak...the team is undefeated in league play and 8-3 overall. They have big games this week to determine seeds in the county playoffs...... Even though Freeport snapped the Vikings 12 game month long winning streak, the baseball team captured the conference championship and a berth in the playoffs which begin May 16th...This is the first time in school history that the baseball team has won back to back championships...JV baseball has an 11 game winning streak with wins over Valley Stream 5-4 and Freeport 11-3 last week...varsity golf will conclude its season this week...they are undefeated at 7-0 in the league...the team played two tough matches last week against Great Neck North where the team shot a record low 198 and they beat previously undefeated Plainview. Kelly Shon shot 36 in both matches...boys and girls lax are making the final push toward the playoffs and every game from here on is a big game....Saturday, May 9 is Lacrosse Day on the Schreiber campus...it will also be the senior game for the boys and girls teams. Four games will be played starting with 9:30 a.m. girls JV, 11 a.m. girls varsity. 1 p.m. boys JV and 3 p.m. boys varsity followed by a PYA game...share in this big day for the seniors and for lacrosse in Port...
