Dorothea (Dot) Tiemann Christ, a longtime resident of Port Washington, died on April 1, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was known as "Moky" by many, after the name on a cafe umbrella in France stuck as a nickname. She had a wry sense of humor, which she maintained until the very end. She loved all the fine arts and attended concerts and operas - and sat in the same fine first ring seats at the New York City Ballet for the past 40 years. She was an avid gardener and creative soul, making much of little and never throwing anything out, because anything might have future use. She lives on through her three children and five grandchildren, the youngest of whom was born about 14 hours before she died. She was waiting for him.
