Play ball! Softball that is. On Saturday, March 7 the Port Washington Youth Activities (PYA) in conjunction with the Port Washington High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls Softball teams conducted a free pre-season clinic for third- to seventh-grade girls at the Weber Middle School. Over 50 players benefited from a clinic packed with instruction on warm-up drills, catching, throwing, fielding, hitting, raffle prizes, giveaways and more. The clinic was an excellent way to get ready for the PYA softball season which begins on March 28. "It was great to see the varsity and junior varsity girls, many who started by playing with PYA, giving back to their community by teaching the younger girls just starting out," said Tony Cavallaro, PYA softball commissioner. Special thanks to Eric Sutz, head coach of the Port Washington High School Softball team, and the varsity and junior varsity girls teams who put the program together and made it a great success. Thanks also to Ronnie Henderson, PYA executive director who helped coordinate the event.
