As co-presidents of Parents Council, we want to publicly thank the many families in our school district who have made the holidays brighter through giving. So often we hear of problems within our schools, but when good things happen, not enough attention is paid. This past month we have been busy coordinating one of the most amazing programs that our community and school families participate in -- the District Holiday Gift Drive. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of our community, and the hard work of the school staff, and Regina Farinaccio's office, we have been able to brighten the holiday season for over 55 Port Washington families! Port Washington is indeed a caring community.
The guidance staff, with the help of school nurses, school psychologists, and social workers, selected families in need and filled out forms to help potential donors determine what is most needed and would be most appreciated. As we are hearing about the end results, and what is being delivered to the schools for distribution, we can say that the level of giving has truly exceeded our expectations! We especially want to thank the HSAs and PTAs and everyone who helped to make this year's Holiday Gift Drive such a huge success.
