The fall athletic season was a banner time for Schreiber High School and the community at large. Many of our teams achieved milestones, individual athletes garnered recognitions, attendance was up at all athletic events and sportsmanship was evident as our student body and community turned out to support our teams. Friday Night Lights in September seems so long ago! Here are the highlights of the fall.
One of the toughest goals to achieve is to be the best in one's class. Schreiber has quite a few "bests" most notably in the individual sport areas.
Junior swimmer Gabby Borutecene became our school's first swimmer to be named All State and represent Port at the state tournament in the 200 individual medley.
Senior Marco Bertolotti was the Nassau County champion in cross country from Coach Jeremy Klaff's undefeated boys team. The team represented Nassau County in the state tournament where Marco placed 9th amongst all public schools and went to on to compete in the Federation Championships placing 36th in the state from both private and public schools.
Coach Stan Makover's girls tennis team finished the season as Long Island Champions for the second consecutive year! In the LI championship, the team defeated previously unbeaten Westhampton for the title. The LI championship is the highest level a tennis team can achieve.
Congratulations to Harvard-bound Kristin Norton for finishing her illustrious high school tennis career with an undefeated season.
The boys soccer team gave the crowds thrills as they advanced all the way to the county finals. They played the best competition all season and showed they were worthy of all the praise.
Congrats to the girls volleyball team for also playing in the highest ability conference in Nassau as they made the post season and scored a first round playoff victory over Macarthur.
Girls varsity soccer were the recipients of the Sportsmanship award for their conference.
At the end of each season the coaches of our teams award individual awards. Below are the recipients for the fall. Congratulations to everyone on a great fall season.
