The New York State Budget Division has proposed a $20 million cut in Library Aid. This constitutes the largest slash of State funds to help our library system. This 20 percent reduction in funding represents the largest cut in the state's 2008-2009 budget, bigger than any other educational institution.
We want to maintain our library's great services to patrons of all ages, the young children, senior citizens and everyone who utilizes the many features and volumes the library offers to all of us in Port Washington. Even the Library's free notary service may suffer.
Please act now...write to Albany and let our elected officials know no cuts.
