Louise Kathryn Ligeri (nee Bellafato) was born on Aug. 3, 1920. She passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer on Aug. 16, 2008 with the love of her family and hospice. She was predeceased by her husband Louis J. Ligeri Sr. She leaves her daughter Betty Ann Sheridan (Edward); son Louis J. Ligeri Jr. (Annette); grandson Louis J. Ligeri III; and many nieces and nephews.
Aunt Weezie (her nickname) leaves so many whom she lovingly touched and brought into her life. Weezie was born and raised in Port Washington, attended local schools and St. Peter of Alcantara Church. She married her childhood love, Louie, and together they devoted themselves to family, friends and Port. She started the Ladies Auxiliary of Atlantic Hook and Ladder Fire Department with the wives of the firemen in 1957. She was a member and former president of the PW Doe Club. The Columbiettes, Sons of Italy were also part of her life.
Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 20 at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
Madeline Colantuono, of Port Washington, died on Aug. 8, 2008. Wife of the late Frank. Sister of Marie (Tom) Tranfaglia. Mother of Rosemarie (Sal) Capobianco and Frank Colantuono and his long time friend Eddie Rivera. Grandmother of John and Cristina Capobianco. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Interment Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn.
