On Monday, Sept. 15, Port Washington Youth Activities will hold its 11th annual golf outing. For the 7th year in a row, golfers will tee it up at the Village Club of Sands Point on Middle Neck Road. The event is once again sponsored by Finn Mac Cool's restaurant.
The day's events begin with registration at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Upon completion of the day's round, all golfers will then move on to Finn Mac Cool's on Main Street at 6 p.m. for the awards dinner and prize raffle, compliments of the restaurant and its owner, Connie O'Reilly.
The donation for the outing, which includes the dinner, is $255/golfer. Those wishing to attend the dinner only and not play golf may do so for a smaller donation of $80. Sponsor levels from $150 to $2,000 are still available, as are opportunities for prize donations for the accompanying raffle.
The PYA Golf Outing is the organization's premier fall fundraising and the net proceeds from the outing have traditionally been used to fund scholarships, operating needs and to continue to "grow" PYA's programs that impact more than 3,000 children annually in Port Washington.
In order to abide by the rules of the Village Club, PYA is restricting registration to 144 golfers (36 foursomes) for this year's event. Last year's event was oversold. Register early. Further information on the golf outing is available at Arena Sports Store at 52 Main Street or by calling the outing chairman, Nick DeMeo, at 944-6573, PYA Executive Director Ron Henderson at 944-7921 or Steve Avazis of Arena Sports at 767-5108.
