You ever have one of those aha moments? Let's cut down all the trees in Town of North Hempstead. No more trip sidewalks (kind of like the gap on trains), no more storm damage, no more leaves - get rid of those noisy, smelly, air polluting leaf blowers; no more bird droppings.

I understand there's a special on plastic palms at Lowe's, or maybe it's Home Depot. They'll stay green all year round - even in the dead of winter. And, they would compliment the tacky, but waterless, plastic flower baskets adorning some of our dreary main streets.

Nothing natural. That's my motto. As for ducks and geese and our legacy ponds they were here first, but they don't vote.

It's about time we got some bang for our tax buck. Forget about clogged drains, potholes, roads with no traffic lines, curbside litter that hasn't seen a sweeper in months (Bogart Avenue adjacent to the high school). Oh, that's another story. No one seems to know how to pull weeds anymore, only ride machines. Too bad, such a lost art/value; pride in one's work.

As in ancient Rome, the citizens respond well to entertainment: Halloween walks, movie nights, and fireworks. By the way Memorial Day is a time for reflection, not celebration. Save that for July 4.

Timing is everything and actually time for change has come. Get the Democrats back in Washington and Republicans back in Town of North Hempstead. Think about it.
