Schreibers Junior Varsity Lacrosse team played the game of the year May 1 and came away with a 6-5 victory over previously undefeated Farmingdale squad.
The JV Vikings are led by eighth grader Jake "The Bull" Froccaro who seems to fill up the net wherever he plays. Tommy "bomber" Jester who scored six goals in his last two home games. Attackmen Owen Caruso, Kyle Manzione, and Jon "Juicebox" Keren put in goals and pick corners on a regular basis. Middies Brieg Bevilacque, Benny Gonzales, Brandon Henne, and Jack Vigilis play tenacious defense while also having the ability to score. The defensive unit is led by Eric Lewis, Markee Ildefonso, Luke Klumpp, Spencer Moslow and Joe Smelly who shut down Farmingdale's high flying offense with solid defense and bone rattling hits. On the few occasions where the defense was defeated, Little Cody White stood tall between the pipes just denying the Dalers time and time again.
As the game remained close, attackmen Jon Keren scored and "The Bull" set up the winner to Kyle Manzione hung tough in front of Farmingdale's net and pumped it home.
Year in and year out Coach Henry Stanziale and Coach Mike Condela guide their team to winning seasons, although this year's roster looks especially tough. Both coaches seem to extract the best out of the players while being flexible enough to allow a little fun to take place also.
A hugh round of applause to Benny Gonzales' mom Fran and Anne Bevilacque who have made sure the kids have drinks and snacks. Kudos to Linda Moslow and Linda Caruso for helping the kids get beautiful new jackets to proudly wear around town.
