The Port Washington Yacht Club Tennis Committee is pleased to announce that Lisa Rudloff will be returning to the club this season and along with John Dehler, the two will equally share the position of head tennis professional. Lisa had been the club's head pro for four years, 2002 through 2005, leaving to start her family. John Dehler was the assistant tennis pro there last season.
Lisa achieved All-American status in doubles at the University of Utah in her freshman year of college. As a sophomore she transferred to the University of Georgia where her team won the National Championship in 1994 and the National Indoors in 1994 and 1995. She was All-Sec in doubles and singles throughout all four years of college. After college, Lisa joined the staff of the Creek Club and then the United States Tennis Association where she organized Team Tennis and implemented a successful junior and adult competitive program across Long Island.
John trained at the Saddle Brook Tennis Academy in Florida where he attained his certification as a tennis professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association. Prior to joining the Port Washington Yacht Club, John worked at Garden City Recreation where he ran the Junior Development program, training and coaching the USTA Jr. Team. John also coached the Garden City Casino ladies tennis teams.
Lisa and John have developed programs that make learning fun for the frustrated beginner and challenging for the advanced player. In addition to private and group lessons Lisa and John will organize various adult clinics, tournaments and social mixers throughout the season. They will also oversee the club's junior tennis program and interclub men's and ladies teams.
All in all the courts at the Port Yacht Club will see plenty of action this season. With the combined experience and talents of Lisa Rudloff and John Dehler the season is sure to be a winner.
