A. Kathleen Hylas (nee Higgins), passed away at 86 years of age on Feb. 12, 2008. Kay is survived by her husband Edwin; three children, Robert of Allendale, NJ, Jane Lewis of Leesburg, VA, and James of Westwood, NJ; her sister Helen Harbin of Athens, GA; and eight grandchildren.

Kay resided with her family in Port Washington for over 50 years. During that time she was active in the Girl Scouts, bridge clubs, skiing and school alumni activities. She obtained her BA in mathematics from Seton Hall University in Greensbury, PA, and graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom High School in Queens. Before her marriage she was an actuary at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial on Feb. 16 at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
