As co-Presidents of Parents Council, we want to thank the many generous families in our district who have made the holidays brighter through giving. So often we hear of problems within our schools, but when good things happen, not enough attention is paid. This past month we have been busy coordinating one of the most amazing programs in which our school families participate: the District Holiday Gift Drive. Thanks to the unbelievable generosity of our community and the hard work of the school staff and Regina Farinaccio's office we have been able to help make the holiday season a little brighter for more than 55 Port Washington families! Port Washington is indeed a caring community.
Thank you to the district guidance staff, school nurses, school psychologists and social workers, as well as the PTA/HSA Community Outreach Committee members and all the extremely generous volunteers who worked so hard to organize this year's gift drive. In addition to all the wonderful gifts, this year we also received many gift cards to local stores that the guidance staff will distribute to enhance the holidays for even more families than we had anticipated being able to reach. The level of giving has exceeded our expectations and will help to make this a wonderful holiday season for many Port residents!
