Port Washington is a diverse community, a great town to live in and raise a family. I welcome the construction of the Amsterdam, a new adult community to have 226 independent apartments. My concern about the Amsterdam is when our community fights among ourselves to pass the annual school budget. These 552 new adult residents (assuming two in a room) will not have kids in the Port Washington school system. Will they want to pass our school budget so they can pay the higher taxes? The answer is probably no. So I encourage the developer of the Amsterdam when its time to vote that these residents know that our children's education should be the number one priority in Port!
