Library Foundation Announces Honorees for Its Fourth Inspiration Gala
The Port Washington Library Foundation's Fourth Inspiration Gala will take place Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club in Port Washington. Cocktails at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by dinner. Community Leadership Awards will be presented to Donald Everett Axinn, well-known Port Washington writer, philanthropist, and businessman, and Marvin B. Tepper, attorney, businessman, and investor.

Water Pollution Control District Announces System Improvements
The Port Washington Water Pollution Control District (PWWPCD) recently held a public hearing where they announced plans for capital improvements. The scheduled system enhancements include the following projects: Full-Scale Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) and Total Residual Chlorine (TRC) Reduction, Bio-solids Refractory Rehabilitation and Outfall Line Rehabilitation.

Local Swimmers 'Make Waves to Fight Cancer'
This has been a sizzling summer for Swim Across America/Nassau-Suffolk (SAA/NS). SAA/NS was founded in 2001 to raise funds and awareness here on LI for cancer research, prevention and treatment. Now in its fourth year as a local SAA/NS team, TEAM HOPE participated in two great events this summer.

Twenty-four year old Nicole Dumpson won recently the gold medal for the USATF in the 400 meter hurdles. The event was held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.
